Gap and Flush Gauge

Opus offers a precision grinding service that is based upon the combination of traditional tool making skills with experience gained in gauge block manufacturing.

Our capacity is W450mm x D150mm x H375 and is based around two Jones and Shipman 540 grinding machines fitted with digital read out controls for depth and height axes.

Depending upon size and material we can confidently work to a 0.005mm tolerance.

The grinding service is supplemented by the use of a Bridgeport turret milling machine that affords us extra versatility. 

We are happing grinding a one off or small batches.  For very fine tolerance work we utilise our extensive lapping facilities. 

All work can be checked in our temperature-controlled laboratory and supplied with certificates of conformity if required.

Gap and Flush Gauge
The picture above shows a gap and flush gauge produced by Opus and used for calibrating a hand held laser scanning “gap gun”. The gap gun is used in, amongst other things, the verification of production quality on panels, doors and hatches in the aerospace industry and also in automotive manufacture where it is being used for both painted and Body in White measurements, sealant beads and for interior dashboards and trim.
